Bomber to stay a Catter.

Geelongs premiership coach, Mark "Bomber" Thompson is just one of seven AFL coaches who come out of contract at the end of the season. However, Bomber and the club are in no hurry to cement an extension for Bomber has stated that he has no plans to leave the club. He has made it clear though, that he would like a committment before the end of the season, and when the club was asked if an offer would be put forward before round 22, Fox Sports qouted Cats Chief Executive, Brian Cook "Very much so". The club is comfortable that Bomber is comfortable in the position he is in, he's very laidback about it. If he was to agree to the offer tomorrow, it would be accepted from the clubs point of view, if he was to wait 2,3 or 4 months even, it would still be the same. He is likely to be offered a 2 year deal. With all this in mind Geelong are likely to be under the supervision of Bomber untill atleast 2011.

Steve Johnson gets Green-light.

Geelong all-australian star forward, Steve Johnson has been cleared by the AFL tribunal over an incident involving Hawthorns Luke Hodge. Steve was cited during the game after allegedley, trying to "strike" Luke, for being angry at him over an incident that happened moments before, involving team mate Matthew Stokes. The Cats could have pleaded guilty and received 45 points towards any future suspension, but with his impeccable record in previous seasons, they believed him when he said he was trying to brush Hodge off, and took it to the tribunal who also believed him. Fox Sports quote Steve Johnson to have said “I believe that if I had of attempted to strike him I would have struck him,”.

Geelong Win NAB Cup 2009

Geelong once again enforced the clubs stregnth on Friday night with their 76 point win over the Collingwood Magpies. The only setback was a serious looking knee injury from Josh Hunt who appears to have damaged his anterior cruciate ligament. This is Geelongs second pre-season title in the past 4 years with their win over Adelaide in 2006. The crowd of 37,277 people watched a great game that saw Joel Selwood win the Micheal Tuck Medal being best affield on the night. As the Cats accepted the cup coach "Bomber" Thompson announced that $50,000 would be donated to the Victorian Bush Fire Appeal. The future looks like another bright one for the Cats this Home and Away Season.

Geelongs coach Mark "Bomber" Thompson, has told Fox Sports that they will play their best squad in the game. "We'll probably bring all the guys back that didn't play - Bartel, Mackie, Selwood," "We've rotated four or five guys every game and probably our best 15 players have had a rest and we'll play our best side Friday night." Despite Carlton playing a weakened team, with no Judd, Fevola, Murphy or Gibbs, they pushed Geelong through out the game. Geelong were sluggish at times, but ultimatley successful. Geelong Football Club

Geelong Football Club is regarded as one of the best in the league at this point in time, after having a record breaking season and winning the 2007 AFL Grand Final Geelong broke its 44 year premiership drought. Geelong also went on to lose just a single game in the 2008 home and away season, but were unfrotunatley beaten by Hawthorne in the Grand Final, leaving many fans disapointed in the club. With a strong team out to play in the 2009 season, and more new recruits, Geelong should be able to continue its strong team through out the season. We are currentley in the semi final in the 2009 NAB Cup, to play against Carlton, after having beaten Adelaide and Port Adelaide in previous rounds.
